Aspiration

A note: for breathing.

When time cracks

the crease of the last

laugh to break

the feathered frost

of this pilgrim’s final

hope,

let me not miss

the chance to look

kindly

on its teaching

and laugh back.

I keep watch and listen, mostly in dark places.
